About Us


Promises for Families began in 2005 as Promise Camp, a summer camp and outreach ministry of the Episcopal Church in Northwest Texas and Rev. Roland Rose, Deacon. Promise Camp Director, Katy Hoskins, wanted to expand the camps to reach greater numbers of children and expand the program to include year round mentoring opportunities in local schools and with the families. This vision has become Promises for Families, Inc.

Over the years, the programs used at camp were integrated and refined to become our signature combination of music, art, movement and nature. The incorporation of these four essential elements address different learning modalities in children, and work together to create a powerful atmosphere of fun, healing and acceptance.

The mission of the foundation is to provide quality summer camp, after school programs and academic tutoring for children whose lives have been impacted by parental incarceration.

Background Screening Requirement

In order to be a volunteer or employee with Promises for Families, an organization affiliated with the Texas Association of Nonprofit Organizations, each candidate is required to have a criminal background check completed prior to begining their service.
Promises for Families, as a nonprofit organization, typically incurs the cost of all background checks conducted on our volunteers.
If you would like to help us dedicate more of our limited funds to supporting our mission, please consider paying for your volunteer background check via your personal credit card (speak with your Promises for Families administrator if you have any questions).
