About Us

Children born into poverty are at risk for dropping out of school, substance abuse, incarceration and teen parenting. We provide a salaried, professional mentor, called a Friend, for their entire childhood, from kindergarten through graduation. 12.5 years. No matter what.

Background Screening Requirement

In order to be a volunteer or employee with Friends of the Children Austin, an organization affiliated with the National Council of Nonprofits or one of their State Associations, each candidate is required to have a criminal background check completed prior to beginning their service.

Once your background check is complete, the results will be made available to Friends of the Children Austin for their review.
