Our Mission

Established in 1976, Victims Information Bureau of Suffolk (VIBS) has been a pioneer in the domestic violence and rape crisis movements.

Our mission is to assist the survivors of domestic violence, rape and sexual assault; to prevent the incidence of these crimes through education and services; and to raise community awareness of the need for justice and compassion for victims.

Because we envision a community free of all forms of abuse, we advocate for societal changes that will eliminate or decrease domestic and sexual violence.

Background Screening Requirement

In order to be a volunteer or employee with VIBS, each candidate is required to have a criminal background check completed prior to begining their service.

VIBS, as a nonprofit organization, typically incurs the cost of all background checks conducted on our volunteers.

If you would like to help us dedicate more of our limited funds to supporting our mission, please consider paying for your volunteer background check via your personal credit card (speak with your VIBS administrator if you have any questions).

By purchasing your volunteer background check yourself, you will help us provide additional services to those in need.
