About Alley Pond Environmental Center

The Alley Pond Environmental Center (APEC), a nonprofit environmental education organization, is dedicated to educating children and adults in the New York metropolitan area, protecting and preserving Alley Pond Park, open spaces and waterbodies, and advocating for sustainable environmental policies and practices.

We welcome volunteers of all ages for specific projects as well as for general help in a variety of areas.

Background Screening Requirement*

Once you have been instructed to do so by a member of the Alley Pond Environmental Center staff, all volunteer or employee candidates are required to have a criminal background check completed prior to begining their service.

Alley Pond Environmental Center (APEC), as a nonprofit organization, typically incures the cost of all background checks conducted on our volunteers.

If you would like to help us dedicate more of our limited funds to supporting our mission, please consider paying for your background check via your personal credit card.

By purchasing your background check yourself, you will help us provide additional services to those in need.
