About Us

The Abbie Shelter and Violence Free Crisis Line is a nonprofit organization providing services to victims of domestic and sexual violence in the Flathead Valley. We provide shelter, advocacy, referrals, and confidential and non-judgmental support to all victims of violence through several different programs.
Mission Statement
To promote safety, independence, and empowerment to victims of domestic and sexual violence.
Philosophy Statement
The Abbie Shelter believes all victims and survivors need access to information and resources and have the right to make decision in their own lives. The Abbie Shelter believes our community must willingly assume a significant role in preventing and responding to domestic and sexual violence.

Goals
To serve victims and survivors of domestic and sexual violence through confidential advocacy, crisis intervention, emergency shelter, education, and nonjudgmental support.
To serve our community through community education and outreach events, advancing the prevention and awareness of domestic and sexual violence.


Background Screening Requirement

In order to be a volunteer or employee with The Abbie Shelter, an organization affiliated with the Montana Nonprofits Association, each candidate is required to have a criminal background check completed prior to begining their service.

The Abbie Shelter, as a nonprofit organization, requests your financial assistance with the cost of background checks conducted on our volunteers. It is inexpensive and easy. Should you have any questions or would like to request financial assistance from the Abbie, please contact our volunteer coordinator at 261-9087

By purchasing your background check yourself, you will help us provide additional services to those in need.
