About Us

Hancock County Habitat for Humanity (HCoHFH), an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, is an independent, locally run, 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. Partnering with economically disadvantaged individuals and families, Hancock County Habitat seeks to eliminate poverty housing and to make decent, affordable shelter a matter of conscience and action. Through monetary and in-kind donations, volunteer labor, and each partner’s “sweat equity", Hancock County Habitat is able to complete projects which are then financed under affordable mortgage loans. Worldwide, Habitat affiliates improve people’s housing conditions through new home construction, rehabilitation, incremental improvements, repairs or increased access to improved shelter through partnerships with the private sector.

Background Screening Requirement


As part of the evaluation process of each Partner Applicant to Hancock County Habitat's program(s), it is required that a criminal background check and a credit check be completed. A credit check will also be done 1-2 other times during the process, typically mid-way through a new build and just prior to mortgage closing.

Once your background check is complete, results will be made available in a secure format to Hancock County HFH for their review.
