Maine Paws for Veterans, Inc., formerly Embrace A Vet, is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to serving Maine veterans with invisible wounds.

Our Mission

Maine Paws for Veterans provides service dog training and support for veterans with military-related Post-Traumatic Stress.

Our Vision

Improved quality of life for veterans by reconnecting them with a sense of belonging, purpose, and community.

Background Screening Requirement

In order to be a volunteer or employee with Maine Paws for Veterans, an organization affiliated with the National Council of Nonprofits or one of their State Associations, each candidate is required to have a criminal background check completed prior to beginning their service.

Maine Paws for Veterans, as a nonprofit organization, typically incurs the cost of all background checks conducted on our volunteers.

If you would like to help us dedicate more of our limited funds to supporting our mission, please consider self-paying for your volunteer background check via your personal credit card (speak with your Maine Paws for Veterans administrator if you have any questions).

By self-purchasing your volunteer background check, you will help us provide additional services to those in need.
