About Us
Welcome to the Community Foundation of Howard County (CFHoCo), formerly known as The Columbia Foundation. As Howard County's community foundation, CFHoCo is a charitable organization dedicated to inspiring lifelong giving and connecting people, places and organizations to worthy causes across Howard County, now and into the future.
With assets of more than $15 million and nearly 300 charitable funds under management, we promote philanthropy by addressing emerging community issues, managing permanent endowments, and working with individuals, families, corporations and private foundations. We support nonprofit organizations in achieving their charitable objectives and distribute grants and scholarships that touch and transform the lives of so many Howard County residents.
Background Screening Requirement
In order to be a volunteer or employee with an organization affiliated with the National Council of Nonprofits or one of their State Associations, each candidate is required to have a criminal background check completed prior to begining their service.
The Community Foundation of Howard County, as a nonprofit organization, typically incures the cost of all background checks conducted on our employment and volunteer candidates.
