About Us

The Maryland Umbrella Group began as the brain child of three amazing women – Maryanne Anthony, Christal Batey and Carol McCreary-Maddox – who wanted to do more for young and old who were struggling to meet the changing requirements of a 21st century society and decreasing resources. Currently MUG is being piloted by Ms. Batey and Ms. Maddox who combine their efforts to create unique, innovative and supportive community programming. Past efforts include the establishment Camp Funtastic, Pass to Fitness (tutoring for students Grades K-12), Senior benefits counseling, Computer Boot Camp, leadership development training, and health awareness workshops and seminars.

In order to be an volunteer, employee or contractor with The Maryland Umbrella Group , an organization affiliated with the National Council of Nonprofits and the Maryland Association of Nonprofits, each candidate is required to have a criminal background check completed prior to begining their service.
