About Us
Christalis is a group of diverse volunteers of all ages ranging from elementary school to retirement. Together we are working to aid children who are orphaned, poor, exploited, starving, in danger, and simply lack basic needs.
Statistics say:
•Every 30 seconds one child is abused, tortured, or killed.
•Every 90 seconds two children are sold for sex.
•Every year two million children disappear.
•As of December 31, 2005 there were 433,472 pedo-criminal sites on the internet.
•In one year a child prostitute is sold to 2,000 men.
•22,000 die each due to conditions of poverty; 13,000 of these children die from hunger.
Our desire is to give these children what we take for granted, a home, safety, education, food, clothing, toys, a sense of belonging, empowerment, healthcare, most importantly love. We hope through our love they will see the love of Christ.
We currently have four pilot projects. Three are in Kasese, Uganda and one is Maryland, USA. Through these programs we have been preventing vulnerable children from becoming part of the statistics above.
Background Screening Requirement
Christalis, as a nonprofit organization, typically incures the cost of all background checks conducted on our volunteers.
If you are a non-missionary volunteer and would like to help us dedicate more of our limited funds to supporting our mission, please consider paying for your background check via your personal credit card (speak with your Christalis program administrator if you have any questions).
By purchasing your background check yourself, you will help us provide additional services to those in need.
